Welcome Letter

Dear Parents:

I would like to welcome your child to my classroom and I am looking forward to an exciting, and successful year! We will be focusing on Reading and Math, which will cover many skills. Your child will have Reading and Math homework four nights a week. It is very important for your child to complete and return the homework the following day. A weekly Spelling/Vocabulary packet will also be sent home on the first day of the week. It is essential for your child to practice, and bring the packet back and forth daily. Weekly Skills Assessments will be given on Fridays most of the time. It is vital that your child be at school on a regular basis, so he/she can master these skills, which will help prepare him/her for their future. Please be sure your child is here on time each day. If he/she is 10 minutes late or picked up 10 minutes early they are counted absent for that period according to the school handbook.

Your child will have the opportunity to be the “Star of the Week”. During this week he/she will be the class leader, and teacher’s helper. A sheet of interest and pictures of the student will be posted on the bulletin board that week. A form will be sent home with your child the week prior. Please help your child fill it out, and return it and any pictures by that Friday. Pictures will be returned to you the following week.

I want the very best for your child. If you have anything specific you would like me to know about your child, please send me a note or call me at 346-7741 Ext. 113. I am looking forward to a great year as we work together for your child’s success!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wood
